Marek Hamsik NapoliNapoli captain Marek Hamsik has admitted that his side’s visit to Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League will be special for him as he returns to face the club where he began his career.

The Partenopei face the Slovakian side in their second match of the Europa League group stage after having brushed aside Sparta Prague and Hamsik is excited to play against his childhood side.

“It is a special game for me, I played here for two and half years with the youth team and then the first team,” said Hamsik at his pre-match conference.

“It will definitely be exciting.  I joined the club when I was 14 years old and they helped me to grow as a player and as a person.

“I have not played in this stadium because it is the stadium of [Slovan] rivals Inter Bratislava and it will be odd.

Over 8,000 tickets have been sold for the game and Hamsik was asked if people will just come to watch him play.

“I’m happy for the interest from the fans. I know that doesn’t happen often, we are hoping to put on a good show but with a Napoli win.”
