Andrea Mandorlini was relatively happy after Hellas Verona’s 1-1 draw with Lazio on Thursday evening, and was full of praise for Nico Lopez.

The Biancocelesti went ahead thanks to a Senad Lulic tap in following a horror attempted clearance from Vangelis Moras. However, Luca Toni levelled in the second half from the penalty spot.

“Lopez had a good game,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia. “He is a good player and has a lot of quality, which we saw tonight.

Lazio were reduced to 10 men after after Luis Cavanda brought down Juanito Gomez in the penalty area and was subsequently given his marching orders.

“When we had numerical superiority, I was expecting something more,” Mandorlini continued. “But we shouldn’t forget we were playing a great team.

“The first mistake we made we were punished, but before Lulic’s goal, Lazio hadn’t done anything.

“We did well to recover and draw level and maybe could have won in the end.”
