Former Bari, Bologna, and Lecce midfielder Klas Ingesson has passed away at the age of 46 due to the effects of multiple myeloma.
The former Swedish international had been diagnosed with the stem cell tumour in 2009, and had undergone successful treatment, only for it to return in 2013.
In spite of the relapse, Ingesson was appointed caretaker coach of Swedish side IF Elsborg in 2013, leading the club to a 6th place finish in the Swedish Allvenskan in addition to a Svenska Cupen triumph over Helsingborgs.
Ingesson made over 170 appearances in Serie A with Bari, Bologna, and Lecce were he scored 16 goals in the process.
