Inler - NapoliNapoli midfielder Gokhan Inler, believes the Partenopei are still a top quality side despite their difficult start to the season.

The 30-year-old’s comments come off the back of a 2-0 victory against Slovan Bratislava in the group stage of the Europa League, a win which Inler believes will give the team a fresh start after some disappointing early season results.

“We want to play well in every match, the victory was important in restarting,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“The match was not an easy one, on the pitch it was difficult and tiresome but the team played with much concentration, our ball skills were good but we can still improve in this area.

“Napoli is strong like the coach wants, [Rafa] Benitez rotates many players like what happens in every important club.

“Nothing has changed from last year, the squad is still strong and we need to look to the future with optimism and always give our best.”

The Swiss international believes he still has room to improve as a player, especially when it comes to being a leader for the Partenopei.

“I am growing in this leadership position, but I need to do more because I have been here for four years and I need to grow to help the team,” he continued.

“Napoli comes first, there are difficult periods but I always say that we need to work [hard] and seriously to obtain results.

“Two consecutive victories are not enough, we need to make our mark on this season starting on Sunday.”

Inler is likely to start in Napoli’s clash with Torino at the San Paolo on Sunday.
