Italy coach Antonio Conte has praised Luigi Di Biagio and the Azzurrini after qualifying for the 2015 European Under-21 Championship.
Italy’s Under-21 team defeated the Slovakia Under-21 side 3-1 on Tuesday night, advancing 4-2 on aggregate in their play-off for next year’s tournament.
Conte congratulated the Italian youth team and their coach for their success and he also praised the Italian football federation for their recent work with the youth sector.
“I want to give my compliments to the Azzurrini and to Di Biagio for the qualification to the final phase of Euro 2015,” Conte told ANSA.
“It is a deserved success that rewards the work of the FIGC in the last few years with the youth teams and at the same time feeding the climate of enthusiasm that we have already seen in this month around the Azzurri.”
Next year’s tournament will be hosted by the Czech Republic and it will run from June 17-30.
