Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has expressed his frustration at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris pitch following his side’s last gasp defeat at the hand of Genoa.

The Bianconeri controlled play for much of the match and had several opportunities to take all three points before a last minute Luca Antonini effort handed the victory to the home side.

“We played on a pitch that was unplayable, you can not play a premier division match on such a pitch in 2014, it is unacceptable,” a disgruntled Allegri told Sky Sport following the conclusion of the match.

“We played well up until the final few seconds but 30 seconds from the end you cannot concede a goal.

“To win the Italian league you do not need 150 points, you just to have one more point than the team in second.

“The 0-0 we would have left with regrets, but you can not come away from such a field with a defeat.

“This is something that should make us think and mature as a side.

“This does not mean we’ve lost the championship, but tonight was an important result.”

Allegri went on to discuss Antonini’s goal and Juventus’s style of play.

“Antonini should not have got in on goal when there were six against two of them.

“We had to defend until the ball had been won back and we did not do that.

“I like to win but not necessarily win big as this league throws up challenging fixtures.

“The physical condition of the players will be the same come Sunday.

“It is clear that there is a mental challenge to play every three days but the players did well in that aspect.”
