Parma’s sporting director Pietro Leonardi is confident that Robert Donadoni is still the right man to turn around the fortunes of the Ducali.

While acknowledging that this current period represented the most difficult of his own tenure, Leonardi still believes that there is a lot of football yet to be played.

Speaking to Radio Parma, the former Empoli, Juventus and Udinese director said of Parma’s current predicament

“I think that this current situation is not the most delicate moment since I became a director at Parma,” he told Radio Parma.

“It is tough now, but we still have 90 points available. Of course we are aware that there are difficulties, but we have to get out of it by hard work.”

Leonardi remains sure that Donadoni is the right man for the job, despite speculation to the contrary. When asked about his future, the businessman said simply, ”I have the utmost confidence in him.”

Leonardi also discussed the recent high profile meeting with Parma’s ultras.

“I was confronted with the hard-nosed organized supporters [the Ultras], but as always I expressed my ideas, what matters is what I say, not what others say about me.

“Yes, I would like us to play in Europe again but the most important thing this season is survival.”

Parma remain rooted to the bottom of Serie A, having collected just three points out of possible 24 and conceding 20 goals in the process.
