Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to attack Mario Balotelli following his sub par display during the Merseyside club’s surprising 1-0 Champions League defeat to Basel.
The Italian international has only scored once in all competitions following his €20 million move from AC Milan and Liverpool supporters have been critical following a number of frustrating and lethargic performances.
“Balotelli is absolute garbage. Lazy, bad attitude, does not release ball and any chance of ever being onside?” wrote one fan on Twitter.
“Replacing Suarez with Balotelli… kept all of the ego, none of the impact,” asserted another.
One user of the social network even went as far as to call for the players exit.
“Sell him as soon as possible, perhaps as early as January.”
Liverpool’s next game is at home to West Bromwich Albion where Balotelli will be hoping to get his season back on track.
