Manchester United have identified Torino full-back Matteo Darmian as a possible transfer target during the January transfer window.

The 24 year old Italian international is comfortable playing on either the right or the left hand side, meaning the former AC Milan trainee’s versatility would be a welcome addition to Louis Van Gaal’s squad.

According to reports from The Mirror, Torino would command a fee in the region of €18 million for the talented defender.

Darmian has made eight appearances for the Azzurri since making his debut in a pre-World Cup friendly against Ireland in May and also featured in Brazil.

In 2012–13, Darmian made the most tackles per game across Europe’s top five leagues and has already made over 100 appearances for il Toro.
