New Chievo boss Rolando Maran has revealed that he’s excited for his debut as coach of the team in their home match with Genoa on Sunday, though he admits the visitors will be a tough side to face.

The Flying Donkeys have only won one match this season ahead of their meeting with the Grifone, but the tactician insists that his side have been giving their all in training since his arrival on October 19 after the firing of Eugenio Corini.

Maran spoke during his pre-match press conference about his feelings ahead of the match with Genoa and what he hopes to bring to Chievo, while also commenting on the difficulties his squad will face against the Rossoblu.

“I have great incentives, a great desire to do well and I’m ready to get to work immediately,” said the 51-year-old.

“I have seen a positive response from the team, which is most logical, and I had no doubts about this upon my arrival here.

“At certain times you must put in more participation, which is exactly what the group has done, even though they have already been giving their maximum.

“Sure there are some emotions ahead of my debut, I’ve been thinking about it a lot and there is some excitement.

“Genoa are one of the ugliest teams to meet, they give you little chance to play because they put so much pressure on you. There are few points of reference when you constantly have to defend and keep up the pace.”
