Fiorentina’s Mario Gomez has returned to training following a month long injury lay-off.

The Germany international has been on the sidelines since he injured his right thigh during the closing stages of his side’s 1-0 win against Atalanta on 23 September and he had been expected to be at full fitness after just three weeks.

As reported by Radio Blu, Gomez was able to practice with his team mates at the San Siro during the Viola’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan and he is now theoretically available for the visit of Udinese on Wednesday, however it is much more likely that he will make his comeback against Sampdoria on Sunday.

Gomez, 29, has severely been hampered by injury since joining the Viola from Bayern Munich in 2013 and as a result he has only been able to make 12 Serie A appearances for the side and just 19 in all competitions with a poor return of four goals.
