Milito: I knew that I would end my career in Argentina

Former Inter striker Diego Milito has insisted he knew he wanted to finish his playing career in Argentina.

The Racing Club striker, who previously played for the Nerazzurri for five seasons prior to his move back home to Argentina, is grateful to the Italian club, but always wanted to end his playing days in his native country.

“Even when I left for Italy, I knew that I would end my career in Argentina,” he told Argentine daily sports newspaper Ole. “My roots are here.”

However, Milito reiterated that he remains appreciative to Inter, despite being blighted with injury during is final year at the club.

“Inter was very good to me, from management to the fans. After the injury, I wanted to play at least once more in the [Inter] that shirt.

Milito made 128 appearances, scoring 62 goals for Inter, before returning to Racing where he had begun his senior career in 1999.
