Massimo Moratti has revealed that he has no plans of selling his remaining shares in Inter, but felt it was the right time to walk away from his executive position at the club.

The 69-year-old, who stepped down from his role as honorary president of the Nerazzurri on Thursday, admits that his decision was just a part of the current changes the club is going through and has insisted that it wasn’t based on his reported problems with coach Walter Mazzarri.

Moratti briefly spoke to the press in Milan on Friday about the situation with Mazzarri and his choice to vacate his position at Inter, though he’s yet to specify his exact reasons for leaving the San Siro outfit.

“I will not sell my remaining shares in this club,” said the former Inter chief, who still holds a 30 per cent stake in the Serie A side.

“This is a time of change and I think I’ve already done my time here.

“Mazzarri? We’ve never said anything nasty about each other. I don’t feel betrayed by him.”
