Thomas Müller of Bayern Munich insists the main reason behind the victory over Roma was the preparation of coach Pep Guardiola.

The Bavarian side made the trip to Rome and left the Giallorossi in ruins with a 7-1 victory in their Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.

“We did an excellent job in the first half,” Müller said to Sky Sport Deutschland after the match.

“This is because we were prepared so well by the coach.”

The German international admits it was a strange situation to be in as they found themselves with a five goal lead at half-time.

At half-time we were 5-0 up but there was still 45 minutes to go, that was a bit weird,” he continued.

“Overall we are really satisfied of course.”

Müller got himself on the scoresheet as he converted a 35th minute penalty awarded for a handball by Kostas Manolas as Bayern continued their 100% record in the Champions League this season.
