Gonzalo Higuain - NapoliNapoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon insists that Gonzlao Higuain was missing in Thursday’s Europa League game against Young Boys simply because of squad rotation.

The Argentinian striker has appeared unhappy in recent weeks and has yet to score in Serie A this season.

Bigon spoke to Mediaset about the striker’s absence from the match in Switzerland.

“Higuain out?” he asked. “Don’t be nervous. He’s a great professional and like all strikers when he doesn’t score, he isn’t happy. During training he always works hard. This is just simple rotation.”

Bigon also outlined whether Napoli will look to invest in January.

“The team is still in development phase after summer,” he admitted. “We will have to see when we get there how we stand with injuries and performances.”

He also praised the role of captain Marek Hamsik, who has also failed to score since the start of the season.

“He has had some very good performances,” asserted Bigon. “Without scoring, just as he has done in the past.”
