Riccardo Bigon has confirmed that Napoli will not be looking to sign Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli in the January transfer window.
The Napoli sporting director was adamant that the Liverpool striker will not be joining the Partenopei in the second half of the season, despite rumours linking the Italian with the Neapolitan club.
Speaking to Mediaset Premium after Napoli drew 1–1 with Atalanta — which saw a missed penalty by Gonzalo Higuain in the 90th minute — Bigon cleared up rumours that Balotelli would be joining the Naples side.
“Balotelli has been rumoured to be going to Spain, England and Italy but I don’t think it is a possibility.” He added, “nothing that has come out has been true.”
Bigon continued, “The only truth is that Balotelli is a great player, who was bought by Liverpool and they believe in him.
“I wish him the best in his English adventure.”
