After brushing off doubts about his ability to cope with the demands of Italian football between the posts at Fiorentina, goalkeeper Neto has reportedly increased his wage demands during contract negotiations with the Florence based club.

The Brazilian stopper arrived in Florence in January 2011 and after a difficult couple of years warming the bench at the Artemio Franchi finally established himself as number one last term and the Viola currently have the third best defence in Serie A.

Earning around €600,000 a year at Fiorentina the 25-year-old’s contract ends in June, however, after initially believing that a rise to around €1m-a-year would retain him, Corriere Fiorentino are reporting that this is no longer enough.

The former Atletico Paranarnse man has spoken of how comfortable he is in Florence and at the club recently though and that will aid the Serie A club in their efforts to convince him to stay.
