Palermo play host to fellow newly-promoted side Cesena on Sunday afternoon in Serie A, at the Stadio Renza Barbera.

The home side have endured an underwhelming start to their season, sitting in 19th with just three points from the opening six games.

Meanwhile, Cesena have a respectable points tally of six, and come into this match off the back of some better form.

The Rosanero see their search for a first league win of the season boosted by a relatively clean injury record. The only concern is that of Andrea Belotti, who picked up a knock during the international break, but is expected to play a part in this coming fixture.

Similarly, the Cavallucci Marini have the luxury of picking from a mostly unblemished squad. This fact can be attributed to the low percentage of players taking part in international matches during the two-week break from Serie A.

Last season, in Serie B, Palermo ran out as 2-1 victors in this fixture. Unfortunately, goalscoring striking duo Abel Hernandez and Kyle Lafferty no longer play for the Sicilian outfit. Cesena goalscorer Giuseppe De Feudis still plays for the club, and can be expected to make a start again.

Despite apparently very different starts to the season, a two-goal Palermo victory would send them above Cesena on goal difference, highlighting how the table should be taken lightly at this early phase of the season.

Even so, coaches Giuseppe Iachini and Pierpaolo Bisoli know the importance of games against similar opposition, and will be striving for victory.

Expected Starting XIs

Palermo (3-5-2): Sorrentino; Munoz, Gonzalez, Terzi; Morganella, Nkoyi, Rigoni, Bolzoni, Lazaar; Vazquez, Dybala

Cesena (3-5-1-1): Leali; Volta, Capelli, Magnusson; Defrel, Giorgi, De Feudis, Coppola, Renzetti; Brienza, Marilungo
