Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday evening in Serie A.

Goals from Sergio Floccari and Francesco Acerbi before half time and a screamer from Saphir Taider after the break was enough to keep Parma at the bottom of the Serie A table as the hosts foundered despite pulling a goal back through Antonio Cassano late on in the second half.

The first chance of the game fell to the young Italian Domenico Berardi  on 13 minutes as his left footed shot went over the top left corner. And three minutes later, the away side had their first sight on goal through Afriyie Acquah.

The Nervoverdi then took the lead on 20 minutes through centre forward Sergio Floccari who headed the ball into the back of the net from a Saphir Taider cross. They soon doubled their lead after Berardi’s air ball was thumped home by defender Francesco Acerbi.

The Ducali, however, had a penalty appeal denied as 32-year-old Antonio Cassano’s shot on 36 minutes was blocked.

And despite the two goal lead the hosts did not rest and were really unlucky when Tadier’s free-kick just before half time struck the post before ricocheting off Mirante and then bouncing off the line.

In the second half, Paolo De Ceglie of Parma missed from a close range header, then a few minutes later Jose Mauri had his effort saved by Andrea Consigli.

However, it was not long before Eusebio Di Francesco’s men tripled their lead. On 52 minutes, former Inter man, Taider, rifled a left foot shot into the top left corner of the goal to shed more despair on Parma.

A few moments later, the 22-year-old tried his luck again but his shot went over the bar. Following that, the hosts had a bunch of opportunities. Firstly, Ghanaian Acquah shot wide from a difficult angle and then on 68 minutes Massimo Coda’s header was saved by the goalkeeper.

Sassuolo should have wrapped up proceedings by the 70th minute, as an unmarked Berardi headed just over the goal from inside the penalty box.

And on 78 minutes, the Ducali finally landed a consolation goal through Antonio Cassano who latched onto a fumble from Consigli and slotted home the rebound.

Parma then started to pile on some pressure but it was too late as the game ended with Neroverdi clinching three well earned points.
