AC Milan striker Giampaolo Pazzini has insisted he can play alongside Fernando Torres and is targeting a return to the Champions League next season.

The Pescia-born forward has yet to start a game for the Rossoneri this season making three appearances off the bench following the arrival of Torres on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea.

“Many say I am good at coming off the bench and I am training to be always ready, although I’d like to step on to the field in the starting eleven,” the 30-year-old told the Milan Channel.

“We are coming off a bad year and want to bring Milan back to where it belongs.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm and on Saturday we want to get back to winning ways, because Milan’s habitat is the Champions League and we must try to qualify.

“Torres? We can play together, because when you’re talking about intelligent and talented players anything is possible.”

Pazzini also commented on playing his 400th career game after he replaced Torres in the 72nd minute of the 1-1 draw against Cesena on Sunday.

“I did not know I had made 400 official appearances, when I read the statistics I took it on board,” he continued.

“I am starting to build them up.

“It is a nice achievement and personal satisfaction.

“I have to thank so many people if I got to where I am today and in future there will certainly be a way for me to do that personally.

“My next targets are 100 Serie A goals and 300 appearances in the top flight.”
