Fabio Quagliarella’s penalty deep into stoppage-time against Copenhagen earned Torino all three points, and pushed the Italian side to the top of their group.

The club are currently level on points four points with Club Brugge, who they played to a scoreless draw in their Europa League opener.

After the club’s hard fought win against Copenhangen in Turin, Quagliarella spoke to Sport Mediaset about the team’s win.

“The important thing was to win,” stated the striker. “It happened to me to be pulled and to win the penalty in the 93 minute.

“It’s a penalty I will remember, because Torino haven’t been in Europe for 20 years.”

Quagliarella was also asked about his switch from Juventus to Torino last summer.

“I did four wonderful years there [Juventus], now I have the jersey of Toro and I try to give satisfaction to the club and the fans.

“It’s a return to my roots. I grew up here in football and as a man, so I am forever grateful to them. I got the opportunity to come back and I had to take it.”
