Palermo midfielder Luca Rigoni admitted that while the Rosanero’s 1-0 victory over Chievo was key, he was sad to have scored against his former side.

Rigoni, who made more than 170 appearances for Chievo, grabbed the only goal of the game as the Rosanero climbed three points above the relegation zone.

“My happiness was because it was an important goal,” he told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“Though I was sorry to score it against Chievo because they are an important part of my career.

“I will always be grateful to the Campedelli family but today’s result was important to us, the victory was important.”

“I think the victory was deserved considering Dybala also hit the crossbar during the second half.”

The former Gialloblu man finds himself suspended for his side’s next game.

“Now comes AC Milan, unfortunately I will be unavailable but we will try to play a big match against a great team.”
