Fiorentina defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has revealed that the Gigliati are focused on their upcoming Europa League match against PAOK after suffering a home defeat to Lazio on Sunday.

The 30-year-old admits that the Viola could have done better to please the fans in Florence in their 2-0 loss to the Biancocelesti, but is now looking to forget about this negative result in order to fully concentrate on the upcoming European away meeting with their Greek opponents.

Rodriguez spoke to Tuttomercatoweb after the defeat to Lazio about Fiorentina’s showing throughout the match and the club’s need for the backing of its supporters at this time, while also commenting on the Serie A side’s Europa League match with PAOK on Thursday.

“We did not play to the best of our potential, although in the second half we tried to impose our game more,” said the Argentine.

“Lazio are a very strong team. Our fans must continue to have faith in this team, we want to win in order to give joy to our audience.

“Now we’re only thinking about the Europa League challenge on Thursday.”
