Davide Astori ItalyRoma defender Davide Astori is set for a spell on the sidelines after the Italy international pulled up with a suspected thigh strain during the Giallorossi’s midweek victory over Cesena.

Astori has already faced a spell on the sidelines this season and is expected to be out for around for 15 days.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the 27-year-old suffered a first degree thigh strain, with Roma later confirming the injury after undertaking tests on the severity of the problem.

“Tests on Astori were carried out, which showed a first-degree lesion of the left biceps femoris and the player has now started receiving treatment,” a statement on Roma’s official website read.

Consequently, Astori will miss Roma’s tie with Napoli on Saturday afternoon and the trip to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

It is likely the defender will return after the international break and be fit to face Atalanta on November 22.
