Roma midfielder Seydou Keita has been ruled out for up to a month after picking-up a calf injury on international duty with Mali.

Keita sustained the injury during the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia on Saturday and was forced to leave the field after only 30 minutes.

“I didn’t feel good and I took a risk, but I couldn’t hold back,” Keita told Il Messaggero.

The new signing, who moved to the Stadio Olimpico from Valencia this summer, has played an important part in Roma’s good start to the Serie A season and their Champion’s League campaign, filling in for the injured Daniele De Rossi, who is expected to return for the Giallorossi against Chievo on October 18.
