De Silvestri – Sampdoria

With Sampdoria flying high in Serie A, defender Lorenzo De Silvestri wants to break back into the Italian national team this season, and believes Italy coach Antonio Conte will struggle to ignore he and his Blucerchiati teammates if they continue this form.

With just two Azzurri appearances since making his debut against the Faroe Islands in 2010, at 26-years-old the former Fiorentina defender’s international career is far from over.

“Of course the national team is a goal,” De Silvestri told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I will continue like this and I’m glad that Sampdoria are doing well.

“The good news is that we have become a team, we are now compact. I’m sure the coach will keep an eye on us.”

Samp coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was critical of Conte after the Italy boss failed to call-up any Sampdoria players for the recent Euro 2016 qualifiers.
