Maurizio Sarri was happy his Empoli side taking a point away from their trip to the Stadio Ferraris on Monday night.

After going behind to Andrea Bertolacci’s first half strike, the Azzurri equalised through a controversial hand ball from Lorenzo Tonelli with 13 minutes left.

The man, who lead Empoli’s return to Seria A, said he wanted to enjoy the current unbeaten run of five games.

“Before the season I did not expect anything particular,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

Then we lost the first two games, but I think we have made a minimum of awareness about our chances.

“Now the boys are doing well, but let’s enjoy this moment because the road is long in our quest to obtain our salvation.”

Sarri though was not so happy with the uneven playing surface at the Stadio Ferraris although he still felt his players could have been more clinical.

“The field this evening was affected and it is bad for all football.

That said, mistakes was our inability to score from dangerous situations. I said we have to work with the maturity of players like Verdi and Pucciarelli to find more courage in these situations, I think it is normal at this age.”
