Udinese’s Bruno Fernandes said Khouma Babacar’s second goal for Fiorentina against his side killed off any hopes they had of getting a result at the Artemio Franchi.

The Zebrette were coming into the game in outstanding form but Babacar scored just before half time and then added his second with 20 minutes to go as his side went on to a routine 3-0 victory.

“I think that in the first half we played well and then obviously we conceded the goal at the end of the half,” he told the media afterwards.

“Then we did okay in the second half, but that second Babacar just killed us and took our legs away and it was very hard to get back into it after that.”

However, he did praise the technical attributes of their opponents, in concluding: “It is never easy when you play against Fiorentina.

“They are a team who are very good at dribbling and this causes you problems.

“My own role? I will play wherever the coach decides to play me and I will do my best to help the team.”
