Valero – Fiorentina

After Fiorentina’s 3-0 victory over Udinese, Borja Valero has said that La Viola are concentrating on continuing their run of form, but are not thinking about third place.

Valero scored the third goal to round off a convincing win for Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi, after Khouma Babacar put the home team ahead with a brace. Udinese and Sampdoria, who both lost, while AC Milan drew 1-1 with Cagliari on Wednesday. As a result Fiorentina closed to within three points of third place.

“We played very well, we’ve picked up three crucial points at home,” Valero told Sky Sport Italia.

“We just hope to keep going like this, without thinking much about third place.”

Commenting on recent criticism of his team’s performances, the 29-year-old Spaniard was unconcerned, despite Vincenzo Montella’s side only winning three of their nine games in Serie A so far this season.

“Criticism? It’s normal, but I always stay calm.”
