Inter defender Nemanja Vidic assured everybody that he is working hard to improve a difficult start to his career with the Nerazzurri.

The Serbian also believes that the Biscione will be able to work their way back up the Serie A table after a disappointing start left them in ninth place after seven games.

Vidic was asked if he was struggling to adapt to Italian football in the press conference ahead of the Europa League clash against Saint-Etienne.

“It’s a question I’ve been asked a lot since I arrived here,” said Vidic.

“I’m looking to train at my best and improve myself so I that can adapt to this type of defence and I’ll continue to give my all so I can keep improving when playing in a back three.

“It’s not up to me to say whether I play well or badly, others must make these judgements.

“I respect the opinions of everybody but I’m doing my best.

“I feel very good here and I believe that I’ve done quite well.”

The former Manchester United defender also added that he believes the whole squad must and will improve:

“You’ll see the best Vidic when all the squad improves and I hope to be a part of this process,” he continued.

“The league is not a sprint but a marathon, there’s still a long road ahead of us.

“We were happy with the result against Napoli and there were many positives to take from that game.

“Obviously we must improve in various areas, but we are optimists.”
