Hoarau - Young Boys v NapoliYoung Boys defeated Napoli 2-0 at the Stade de Suisse in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Guillaume Hoarau and Leonardo Bertone scoring second half goals as Napoli made eight changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Inter at the weekend.

Young Boys started off by keeping the ball well but Michu had the first real glimpse of goal after good work by Dries Mertens but Milan Vilotic slid down well to remove any danger.

Hoarau came agonisingly close to open the scoring but his header from Jan Lecjaks’ corner.

Napoli started to exert some hold over the game and goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo was forced to make a sharp saves after De Guzman was played in by Christian Maggio.

At the other end, Rafael Cabral was lucky to have Hoarau’s header which came straight down his throat.
Five minutes from the break, Mvogo made the save of the match to deny Mertens a fine goal when he cut inside from the left and shot.

Faouzi Ghoulan sent a curling free kick just wide of Mvogo’s post immediately after the second half resumed.

The goal finally came and it was the home side who found the net. A slick move down the right led to Henrique’s half clearance ball falling to Hoarau. He controlled it expertly before sending a half volley into the far bottom corner to send the home fans into raptures.

At the 60th minute mark, Michu was hauled off to be replaced by Marek Hamsik who immediately had a very good chance to equalise. It was the danger man Mertens whose cross found Hamsik but the Slovak couldn’t keep his header down.

There were half hearted appeals for a handball when Hamsik failed to control a bouncing ball, but the referee didn’t deem the accidental contact with Vilotic’s hand fit enough for a penalty.

Jose Callejon came on for Jorginho as Rafa Benitez went for broke and just 10 minutes from time, Napoli thought they had equalised. A delightful ball from Gokhan Inler found Callejon, but the former Real Madrid man had strayed offside before finishing past Mvogo.

In what was a final desperate substitution, Gonzalo Higuain came on for De Guzman with just over five minutes remaining.

Bertone who had come on as a substitute with 20 minutes left to play finished Napoli with a sucker punch in injury time.
