AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati feels that the derby with Inter will be tense affari, but is expecting a great game.

The 37-year-old is likely to be on the substitutes bench, for the clash at the San Siro, after Diego Lopez’s return from injury.

”The derby always feels like a derby as their is so much feeling,” Abbiati told Milan Channel.

”With it coming straight after an international break it will not be easy for either team.  The tension starts to build during the week and we have trained well.  I think it will be a great game”

With Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi experiencing his first derby in the dugout Abbiati hopes the team can make it a successful one,

”For him to live the derby as a coach is much different to being a player in it and we hope to make it a successful one for him. We have always had a good relationship, although it has changed slightly now because he is the coach rather than a player.”

Having been at the club for 14 years, Abbiati has many derby memories including his favourite goal.

”It’s a difficult choice but I would say Sheva’s [Andriy Shevchenko] goal in the derby when we met in the Champions League is a very important goal for me.”

With Abbiati now behind new summer signing Lopez in the goalkeeping stakes, the veteran goalkeeper is not sure what the future holds, ”I have not thought about what to do.  This is something to discuss at the end of the season.”
