AC Milan defender Alex out with thigh injury

alex ac milanAC Milan defender Alex picked up a thigh injury during the Diavolo’s 2-0 loss to Palermo on Sunday and the club has confirmed that the length of his absence is yet to be determined.

The 32-year-old had to be subbed off after just three minutes on the pitch due to a muscular problem in his right thigh and was unable to attend training with the Rossoneri on Monday, though the San Siro outfit were able to recover Giacomo Bonaventura.

Milan released a statement on the club’s official website to announce the news regarding Alex’s condition and also touched on the conditions of Bonaventura and captain Riccardo Montolivo.

“Over the course of the game against Palermo, Alex has reported a muscle problem the semimembranosus muscle of the right thigh,” read the statement. “His condition will be evaluated in the next few days.

“Bonaventura managed to work with the rest of the squad for the entire session, while Montolivo did work with his other team-mates but focused on his personal training program.

“The captain is still working on recovering fully from his injury and this fitness program does include some sessions with the rest of the squad.”
