Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has said that Alessandro Del Piero can lead Italian football forward.
Agnelli feels that the Bianconeri’s legendary no. 10 can contribute immensely to Italy’s attempt to restructure its game.
Del Piero, a 2006 world cup winner, has over 513 appearances for the Bianconeri in his 20-year association with the club and currently plays for Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League.
“If you had a good football career, it’s not necessarily the case that you know how to take on a managerial role,” Agnelli said during an event at the Milan Triennale.
“Del Piero might, however, be the right man to lead a footballing institution.”
When asked about a possible Juventus return, Agnelli refused to close the door.
“I don’t know if he’ll return to Juventus, but he can certainly be a major face for Juventus and also for Italian football.”
