Massimiliano Allegri Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has stated that Wednesday night’s Champions League fixture against Malmo is a must win game if the Bianconeri are to progress in the competition.

The Serie A leaders currently sit third in Group A, level with second place Olympiacos, and despite once again dominating the domestic football scene, the Turin giants have struggled when playing in continental competition.

“It is no accident that we have lost the two away games we have played,” Allegri told a press conference on Tuesday.

“In Madrid we played with great personality and in Greece we had many occasions to win although we did not play as well as the first game. Tomorrow we need the result and we just have to be alert and awake and understand how you have to play on this field.

“At home Malmo are a team that plays football very differently, more aggressively and have achieved some good performances. They didn’t deserve to lose to Atletico [Madrid] and tomorrow it will be difficult for us because at this point in the group everyone is in contention to qualify.”

The 47 year old then turned his attention to the condition of the pitch at the Swedbank Stadion which has reportedly caused some concern amongst the Juventus team.

“It’s useless to talk about the pitch, we must adapt quickly because we have to win tomorrow. We have 95 minutes on hand to do it. We are in a good form and we have all the credentials to do so.”

Juventus won the corresponding home fixture of this tie in September with Carlos Tevez netting a brace and Allegri is keen for more of the same from his Argentine hit man this time around.

“I hope he can score tomorrow just as he did in the home game. He had gone many years without scoring [in the Champions League] and then he did [against Malmo].”

Atletico Madrid play Olympiacos in Spain in the other Group A match.
