Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia is looking for victory over Manchester City in order to help former club Roma in their quest to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The Moroccan international moved to Munich from Rome this summer and will square off against Manuel Pellegrini’s side in a clash that is a must win for the English club in order to qualify for the final 16.

Benatia wants to end the Citizens hopes tonight which in turn will provide a boost for his former club’s chances.

“We are going to Manchester to win and get the maximum points in the group”, the defender told Sport 1.

“We are aiming for maximum points. In addition I’d like to beat City to try to do a favour for Roma. I hope they qualify with us.

“Beating the Citizens would also help Roma and I still have many friends at the Giallorossi.”

The German club has already qualified for the final 16 of the tournament.
