Rafa-Benitez-turista-a-NapoliNapoli coach Rafael Benitez insists his side will be sent out to play in an attacking manner, but feels they should just take one game at a time.

The Partenopei have hit an excellent patch of form, going unbeaten in eight Serie A games, which has been them rise to third in the table.

“The tactics and idea of playing have always stayed the same,” he told the press. “Even if we change something in terms of playing staff, like what happened against Fiorentina.

“If an opponent puts you in a difficult position, it is right to change a little, but staying faithful to the overall idea.”

The Spaniard then compared his style of play to that of Cagliari coach Zdenek Zeman.

“I like to play well and win games, and I want my team to play football. I do not know if this is something we have in common. He likes to attack, and to me, to win by attacking is the purpose of football.

“We have to face the game with the same intensity and mentality of the last few matches.

“Defending well and attack against better, knowing that we have a team who likes to attack and not to turn to defence. I think the fans will be positive about this.

“Looking at the games that they [Cagliari] have played, I don’t think they only go out to attack, they are balanced, while playing in an attacking way.

“I want to win every game, but I don’t think it can be done. I think ambitions and objectives must go hand in hand. We need to focus on Cagliari and that’s all.”

After Lorenzo Insigne was ruled out for up to six-months after an ankle injury, Benitez is still unsure as to who will fill his boots.

“We know that we miss Insigne and we will miss him for some time. We evaluated many players who can play in its role to find the right balance. We have yet to decide who to field in that role, and on his side.

“[Jose] Callejon can play on the left, as well as [Jonathan] De Guzman, [Giandomenico] Mesto, [Marek] Hamsik and [Faouzi] Ghoulam. We have several alternatives.”

Benitez has been linked with a move back to former club Liverpool, but insisted he is happy in Naples.

“If I go back to Liverpool, all I can say is that I am going to visit my family. I have the support of the fans here [Napoli] and I am fine.

“We have a team that can still grow, and I want to focus on this.

“We decided to postpone talks with the president about a contract renewal, so for the moment I don’t know what will happen in the future. We’ll see.

“I’ll work with sporting director Bigon to give Napoli a bright future.”
