AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura believes Stephan El Shaarawy is giving all he can this season despite a slow start to the season.

The 25 year-old scored in Milan’s 2-0 friendly win over San Lorenzo after Giampaolo Pazzini netted early on, but has failed to find the back of the net in Serie A action.

Speaking to the press after the final whistle as reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Bonaventura was asked to comment on his Rossoneri team mates.

“Marco van Ginkel is a good player, he played well today,” he said about the Dutchman on loan from Chelsea.

“[Riccardo] Montolivo is a player we need,” Bonaventura continued, “he will bring us quality in the midfield.”

Bonaventura was then asked about El Shaarawy who has not scored a competitive goal since August 2013.

“El Shaarawy is giving his best, in my opinion his performances have been good,” Bonventura concluded.

Milan’s meeting with San Lorenzo represented the Trofeo Berlusconi which was postponed in August.
