Leonardo Bonucci has taken to Twitter to express his happiness after captaining his country for the first time in Italy’s 1-0 win over Albania.
With Gianluigi Buffon rested for the clash along with a host of senior players, Bonucci was given the chance to lead the Azzurri.
“Captain and victory. Perfect evening. Great game. Physically, I’m okay. Nothing to worry about,” he tweeted.
The 27-year-old was substituted out of the Albania game in the second half after suffering an injury, but moved to reassure fans of his health.
It was the defender’s 43rd cap for Italy.
