Leonardo Bonucci JuventusLeonardo Bonucci believes winning the World Cup with Italy would be a bigger personal achievement than lifting the Champions League with Juventus.

The Bianconeri return to action in Europe on Wednesday away to Malmo with Massimilano Allegri’s men back in the hunt to qualify from Group A, following their comeback win over Olympiacos three weeks ago.

Given the choice, Bonucci stated he would choose national glory with Italy over winning the Champions League for Juventus.

“If I had to say what would mean more to a player it would be the World Cup,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia.

“You become a player who is part of the best team in the world, that is the dream of every child.

“At the 2006 tournament, the Italian people were jubilant and all of us felt that Fabio Cannavaro represented the whole of Italy at that moment.

“Although winning the Champions League in the black and white of Juventus would be a great joy, it would be even greater to win a World Cup.”

Since arriving from Bari in 2010, Bonucci has helped Juventus reestablish themselves at the top of the Italian game, collecting 43 caps for the Azzurri in that time.
