Genoa defender Nicolas Burdisso believes that it’s important for the Rossoblu to continue having high hopes after their recent success but admits that the team must also work hard to achieve their goals for the season.

The Grifone currently sit in sixth place in the Serie A standings with 19 points after going unbeaten in their past six matches and the 33-year-old has insisted that the team is still growing under coach Gian Piero Gasperini while remembering that not every result will be positive.

Burdisso spoke Primocanale about Genoa’s impressive run in recent weeks and the squad’s ability to adapt to changes in formation, while also commenting on his mission to always give his best.

“Everyone has been growing under Gasperini,” said the Argentine. “Sebastian De Maio, Facundo Roncaglia and I all know how to adapt to what is required due to the changes in formation.

“We don’t count if we’re playing three, four or five, the important thing is to give security to the team. It’s an important moment and we must continue to dream because we want to bring these colours to the highest level.

“However, we must also remain down to Earth in order to understand how to achieve our goals. We want to do this with the work and humility knowing that there is a lot to do after having a tough season last term without a fixed position.

“On this point I can say that I hadn’t been there the whole season, but we were able to save ourselves. This season the objectives are completely different.

“I will try to give my maximum all of the time, along with my team-mates. The results will be positive sometimes and negative other times.”
