Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has thanked Juventus for his time with them and hopes that their positive run will continue after extending his contract with the club on Thursday.

The Italy international has signed a new contract with La Vecchia Signora that will keep him at the club until 2018, while goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has signed a new contract until 2017.

“In years to come, people will talk of Buffon and Chiellini and think of Juventus and that makes me proud,” he stated at a press conference.

“I became a man in this city. The beginning was traumatic but now Juventus is a big family. I hope I continue making everyone proud in the future.”

The 30-year-old has become an Juventus legend after having stayed with them even though the club was relegated to Serie B following the events of the 2006 Calciopoli scandal.
