Atalanta coach Stefano Colantuono did not hide his anger at referee Davide Massa as the Nerazzurri fell 2-1 to Roma in Serie A action on Saturday.

Despite taking the lead in the first minute through Maxi Moralez, the Dea slumped to another defeat but the 52-year-old was certain that Massa’s overall performance in the match had a large bearing on the result.

“I don’t want to talk about the match, I’ll let you in on that now,” he stated while speaking to reporters as reported by vocegiallorossa.it.

“I will only concentrate on how the referee directed the match. I have never spoken about the referees and it is the first and the last time I will do so.

“The referees have a difficult job and I consider the Italian ones among the best. Atalanta have always kept quiet so now I will speak.

“Nothing evident, there weren’t huge mistakes. I am speaking of the overall direction, especially in the second half he [Davide Massa] didn’t have a great half.

“He broke the rhythm, fouls that weren’t there, wasting time. I am upset with his direction of the match by the referee.”
