Fans arrested during Italy-Crotia match finally released

Srna - Italy v CroatiaCroatian fans arrested during the match against Italy at the San Siro on Sunday have been released from prison.

16 Croatian fans were arrested during the European Championship qualifier in Milan for disrupting play by throwing flares onto the field and for clashing with Italian police in the stands.

Tuttomercatoweb.com reports that the investigating magistrate of Milan Robert Nunn confirmed charges against four of the fans but they were released with remaining 12 fans who were not caught in the act.

All 16 fans have been handed a Daspo, banning them from attending sporting events in Italy for the next three years.

The 1-1 draw clash was halted for 10 minutes late in the match, when there also appeared to be a small fire in the stands. Riot police waded into the stands and eventually the final 17 minutes were played.
