Fiorentina are planning talks with Senegalese striker Khouma Babacar in hopes of extending the 21-year old’s stay in Florence.

Babacar came up through Fiorentina’s youth ranks and has shined this season, making the most of his opportunity to play regularly with the vacancy available due to recurring injuries to fellow forwards Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report Fiorentina officials are prepared to hold discussions with Babacar over the Christmas break and are hopeful of reaching a deal, provided they can structure an arrangement within the parameters of the Viola’s budget.

After loan spells at Padova and Modena the previous two seasons, Babacar’s performances has opened many eyes, leading the Viola with four goals and has started in eight of the club’s nine Serie A matches this season.

Babacar’s performances have impressed coach Vincenzo Montella so much so that veteran Mario Gomez has found little playing time upon his return from injury.
