Fiorentina are pleased with Giuseppe Rossi’s recovery from knee surgery, the striker has not played all season after undergoing knee surgery in September.

Rossi has been plagued by knee trouble in recent seasons but his latest recovery is progressing as expected as he was seen outside the Viola’s rehabilitation center preparing to begin his physiotherapy.

“He [Rossi] is now beginning the central part of his physiotherapy,” Viola medical chief Paolo Manetti explained to the club’s official website.

“Up to this point he’s had to avoid using weights, but now a period of muscular exercises and gym work is beginning, but he still won’t be on the pitch.

“The possibility of playing in a match will be assessed after tests over the Christmas break.

“Everything is going according to plan.”

Manetti also determined the state of Federico Bernardeschi, who is out after fracturing an ankle.

“Tomorrow we will remove the stitches and then he will begin to undergo physiotherapy,” he continued.

“It will be a long, hard road but things are going according to plan.”
