Fiorentina’s midfielder David Pizarro has stated he still finds joy in football and will not consider retirement until that changes.

The Chilean turned 35 in September and may no longer be coach Vincenzo Montella’s first choice in midfield, but when given a chance he can still remind opponents of his best days.

“I still want to play football,” Pizarro told ViolaChannelTV.

“If I feel that I can’t, I would leave without hesitation.

“I have great determination and want to show the best of me, especially the way things are going this season.”

The Viola are currently winless in three matches in all competitions, including two consecutive Serie A defeats against Sampdoria and Napoli.

“Now we have to work hard until Christmas and then recharge the batteries for the second half of the season,” the Chilean international said.

In his 15-year Serie A career, Pizarro has made 363 appearances and registered 28 goals and 47 assists.
