Former AC Milan and Italy defender Alessandro Nesta is set to join Chennaiyin FC of the Indian Super League for the remainder of the season.
The 38 year-old World Cup winner, who last played for Montreal Impact in 2013, has been linked with a move to Chennaiyin who are coached by former Italy defensive partner Marco Materazzi.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that several Indian clubs were interested in recruiting Nesta, but it appears as though Materazzi’s recruiting has swayed the defender to join the club.
Nesta is scheduled to play in the Global Legends Series in Bangkok on December 5, after which he will arrive in India to join his new team.
It is expected that Nesta would join the IPL side for the remainder of the season.
