Italian centre forward Maurizio Ganz has firmly stated that Inter club president Erick Thohir will support new coach Roberto Mancini in the January transfer market.

Mancini was named the new Inter coach for the second time last week after the club sacked Walter Mazzarri following a string of disappointing results.

Ganz, having played before for both Milan and Inter previously expressed his excitement regarding the forthcoming Milan derby to be played on Sunday night at the San Siro.

“It will be a very important challenge as both teams have everything to lose and even a draw could be detrimental,” said the 46-year-old to TMW.

“I think Milan are playing better than Inter and [Filippo] Inzaghi is doing a good job,” he continued.

“We will see what Mancini can bring at Inter and I am sure Thohir has given him the full support in the transfer window.”

Ganz then felt that the Nerazzurri need to sign a midfielder while the Rossoneri, two defenders.

The Scudetto winner with the Rossoneri also commented on the situation surrounding Milan centre forward Giampaolo Pazzini.

“Pazzini has been given little chance to prove his worth so far but I think he will get a few more chances and he will have to exploit them. However, if he does not play then he will leave in January,” he concluded.

Milan are currently seventh in the Serie A table with 17 points whereas their  local rivals, Inter are further below occupying ninth place on 16 points.
