Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin was stopped by police for driving under the influence just 48 hours before a Serie A match.

The Italian international has been in great form for his club side this season conceding just 11 goals in 11 league fixtures.

According to Corriere Mercantile, the 22 year-old was driving his Volkswagon Golf on Saturday night in Genoa and was pulled over by police.

He tested positive to an alcohol breath test and charged by the authorities which could effect his involvement for Genoa.

The Grifone will face Palermo on Monday evening and it remains to be seen whether Perin will play a part in the game.

Eugenio Lamanna would be the most likely candidate to take the place of Perin should they decide to replace him.
